DEFT✓
B2Bpay accepts your card payment and sends the funds to your DEFT biller via BPAY using the details on your DEFT notice.
Create your B2Bpay account and add your preferred credit or debit card to your B2Bpay Wallet. B2Bpay accepts major cards including Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
Use the BPAY details shown on your DEFT notice to set up your payee in B2Bpay. Enter the relevant DEFT BPAY Biller Code and your DEFT Customer Reference Number (CRN), along with the amount you need to pay.
Instead of making the BPAY payment directly from your bank account, select your credit card as your payment method in B2Bpay.
B2Bpay processes your card payment and sends the payment to the biller via BPAY, using the payment details you provided. To DEFT and your biller, the payment is received via BPAY – even though you funded the transaction using your credit card through B2Bpay.
For eligible business expenses, yes – B2Bpay accepts American Express, as well as Visa and Mastercard. This can be particularly useful for businesses that have traditionally paid DEFT expenses by card and don't want to switch those payments to a bank account.
Keeping the ability to pay by card can provide businesses with benefits beyond simply having another way to pay.
Keep using your credit card
DEFT may be removing direct card acceptance, but that doesn’t necessarily mean your business needs to stop using its card for eligible DEFT expenses.
Maintain cash flow flexibility
Using a credit card can help businesses manage the timing between making a payment and funds leaving their bank account.
Earn credit card reward points
When you make an eligible payment through B2Bpay using a rewards credit card, you can continue to earn the points offered by your card provider, subject to your card provider’s terms.
Earn additional rewards with B2Bpay
You can B2B Points or Qantas Points* on top of the rewards earned through your credit card.
That means a DEFT payment that would otherwise be paid directly from your bank account can potentially become a more rewarding business expense.
B2Bpay is designed for business payments, so the underlying DEFT payment needs to be an eligible business expense.
Depending on your circumstances, that could include payments relating to:
If you’re unsure whether your DEFT payment is eligible, the B2Bpay team can help you before you make the payment.
